Abstract

Blastocladiella colombiensis n. sp., a saprophyte on snake skin and insect bodies in soil sample 43, is characterized primarily by branched or unbranched thalli and deep reddish-brown reticulate resting spores, the reticulae of which make the spores appear to be spiny or verrucose in median section. Karlingia lobata var. microspora var. nov. is distinguishable chiefly by minute zoospores. In addition to this new species and variety 34 other zoosporic species were isolated from a large number of soil samples.
