Abstract
In addition to the aquatic species reported previously (Karling, 1979, 1985) 49 additional species have been isolated from water, soil debris, algae, and higher plants from the Ross Biological Reserve. These range taxonomically from the chytrids to the blastocladids, saprolegnids, and peronosporids. Samples of soil, ponds, stream and river water and infected plants were collected at intervals over the course of several years and studied for the presence of zoosporic fungi. The soil and water samples were flooded in stender dishes and baited with the substrata, usually used in studying aquatic fungi. So far the following species were isolated and studied: Olpidium rotiferum Karling (1946). In rotifer eggs. Olpidium luxurians (Tomaschek 1879), Fischer (1892). In pine pollen. Olpidium gregarium (Nowak 1876), Schroeter (1885). In rotifer eggs. Olpidium pendulum Zopf (1890). In pine pollen and its germ tubes. Rozella diplophlyctidis n. sp. Fungus parasiticus, sporangiis solitariis, longitudinem, latitudenem que cellae matricalis in toto complentibus, sphaericis, 18-28 μm diam. Zoosporis hyalinis 1.8-2.5 μm diam. Sporiis perdurantibus sphaericis, 16-22 μm, spinosis. Germinatio ignota.
