Abstract
During the isolation of soil fungi from Spain a number of zygomycetes have been observed. Six species are described. The technique used in isolation of the fungi was the following: A portion of the sample of soil was placed directly in a moist chamber. In addition a dilution of 1/20000 of soil in sterile water was made and then three poured plates of each of four media (PDA, oat meal-agar, 2% malt-agar and YpSs) were inoculated each with 1 cc of this soil suspension. The plates were incubated at 25-28°C. As soon as the colonies began to show on the surface of the plates they were sub-cultured onto fresh media. Some of the fungi described here have been observed growing directly on soil without parasitising nematode eggs, cysts or other fungi.
