Abstract
Cocoicola gen. nov. is introduced to accommodate Anthostomella cylindrospora C. Booth & D. E. Shaw and A. fusispora C. Booth & D. E. Shaw. In Cocoicola asci are clavate and lack an apical ring, and the ascospores are straw-coloured to light-brown and cylindrical to fusiform. Ascomata in both species are relatively large, and in one species several ascomata release their contents through a single neck. The genus is closely related to Anthostomella and is presently only known from palms.
