Abstract

The stem anatomy of 88 species of dendroid mosses from 13 families and 29 genera was studied. Aim of this study was to determine whether dendroid mosses have anatomical structures of the stem in common, whether these structures can be c1assified and whether these types correlate with systematic units. As a result, 5 different types of stems were found, which, however, do not correlate with systematic groups but can be interpreted as adaptations to ecological conditions.
