Abstract
Five species of Myriotrema morphologically defined by an epiphloedal, bulging, rather thick thallus, immersed to semi-emergent, perithecioid ascomata with tiny to moderately open ostiola, a whitishtranslucent pore region and brown, muriform to submuriform ascospores are accepted in Australia: M. elachistoteron (Leight.) Hale, M. desquamans (Müll. Arg.) Hale, M. phaeosporum (Nyl.) Hale, M. trypaneoides (Nyl.) Hale and M. wightii (Tayl.) Hale. The species are described, their distribution is mapped and a key for their identification is provided. Thelotrema leiospodium Nyl. described from Europe and formerly regarded as a synonym of M. wightii is shown to be a independent species.
