Abstract
Aptychopsis is a genus of Sematophyllaceae distributed in the Neotropics with greater diversity in Brazil, however, its species are still poorly known. The absence of a taxonomic revision hinders the correct identification of Aptychopsis in Brazil. In this work, we provide a study of Aptychopsis species occurring in Brazil based on morphological concepts to support species identification. Eight species of Aptychopsis were recorded in Brazil: A. cylindrothecia, A. estrellae, A. implana, A. pungifolia, A. pyrrhophylla, A. reitzii, A. subpungifolia, and A. tequendamensis including two new combinations A. implana and A. reitzii.
