Abstract
More and more nations are expressing interest in increasing the international recognition of their Geoheritage of selected regions by participating in UNESCO’s “Global Geoparks Network” (GGN) initiative. The most recent one is the Japanese Geo-Community who joined 2009 the GGN, and has thus enriched remarkably the global promotion and perception of modern Earth sciences.
