Abstract
An increasing number of people live in unnatural urban agglomerations and have lost the awareness of the environmental importance of soil. However, soil is increasingly endangered, mainly by erosion, degradation, densification, sealing and contamination. Therefore, soil protection gets more and more important for local authorities. Based on this, the municipality of Mülheim an der Ruhr an the Biologische Station Westliches Ruhrgebiet e.V. launched a project named “Mülheimer Bodenschätze” (Marx et. al 2008, Marx & Keil 2010, Matzke- Hajek 2009, Referat Vi Umwelt, Planen und Bauen 2009)
