Abstract
Two Working Groups of the International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG/AIG), engaged in the investigation of similar topics, Human Impact on the Landscape (HILS) and Geomorphological Hazards (IAGeomhaz), held a joint meeting in the heart of the Ruhr District, in Bochum, between 8–12 September, 2008. The meeting, hosted by the Ruhr University of Bochum and organized by Dr. Stefan Harnischmacher (now: University of Koblenz), was an optimal occasion to overview the progress both Working Groups had made in the first two years of their existence. Participants arrived from seven countries, the remotest of them being Mexico, India and Indonesia.
