The "Flies of the Nearctic Region" is intended to be a counterpart to the Palaearctic series ("Die Fliegen der paläarktischen Region") under publication since 1924. We have been able to secure the support of North American dipterists for initiating this series because of the high reputation which the Palaearctic series enjoys.
