Abstract

Partly rich and well-preserved ostracod faunas occur in many outcrops of the Neogene sediments of northern Peloponnesus which allow a general stratigraphical correlation with other Neogene occurrences in the Mediterranean area. Of the 43 species discoverd in this paper, 28 have been previously described, 7 are new (Callistocythere ligiaensis, Leptocythere? Placida, Euxinocythere, schuldtae, Cyprideis hellenica, Loxoconcha friemannae, Loxocaspia ligiaensis and Zonocypris rippeae) and 8 left under open nomenclature. The majority are marine species of late Pleistocene age from an outcrop about 500 m Southern of Ligia. However, in the surroundings of Palaeokastron and Evrostina, only non-marine ostracods were found which are of late Pliocene age.
