Abstract
A new pterosaur from the Crato Formation (Aptian, Lower Cretaceous) of the Chapada do Araripe is described. Arthurdactylus conan-doylei is the first pterosaur to be described from these deposits which are better known for their exceptionally well preserved insects and early angiosperms. The new specimen is an incomplete, partially articulated individual lacking the cervical vertebrae, skull and sternum. It had an original wing span of 4.60 metres.
