Abstract
Chrysochampsa ESTES, 1988, an alligator from the Eocene of North Dakota, is a junior subjective synonym of Allognathosuchus Mook, 1921. Allognathosuchus is a widespread Paleogene alligator with a distribution of Early Paleocene-Middle Eocene in North America, Early-Middle Eocene in western Europe and Late Eocene in Africa. This suggests a North American origin of the genus and subsequent spread to Europe and then to North Africa.
Kurzfassung
Die Gattung Chrysochampsa ESTES, 1988, ein Alligator aus dem Eozän von Nord-Dakota, wird als subjektives jüngeres Synonym von Allognathosuchus Mook, 1921 angesehen. Allognathosuchus ist ein weitverbreiteter alttertiärer Alligator, im frühen Paleozän - Mittel-Eozän von Nordamerika, im frühen bis mittleren Eozän von Europa und im späten Eozän von Afrika. Es wird daher ein nordamerikanischer Ursprung für die Gattung angenommen, mit späterer Ausbreitung nach Europa und dann nach Afrika.
