Abstract

Achnanthes crenulata Grunow is re-described using light and electron microscopy. Species assumed to be related have also been examined: Achnanthes confusa comb. nov., Achnanthes subcrenulata comb. nov., Achnanthes undata, Achnanthes repanda, Achnanthes constricta comb. nov., and Achnanthes crenulata var. arcuata. Their distribution is discussed, which is in the same part of the world, including Australia, Java, Philippines, Malaya, Korea, China and Japan. The occurrences from USA are most likely misidentifications.
