Abstract
Coscinodiscus dispar, a previously described species from France and a new centric diatom, Thalassiosira cuitzeonensis from Mexico have tentatively been placed in the genus Thalassiosira. The species have radiating single rows of areolae with slightly raised cribra on the internal valve face and irregular areolae pattern. Both species are found in late Miocene sediments.
