Abstract
Monoblepharella mexicana, a tropical fungus, was isolated from water and litter samples (floating dead leaves and twigs) in Argentina. It is the first isolation made in South America and the southernmost occurrence of this species in the Western hemisphere. The known five species were only found in North and Central America. This is the first isolation made of a member of the family Gonapodyaceae in Argentina. Remarks on the habitat are also made.
