Abstract
Nectriella erythroclypea is described and illustrated for a single collection of an unusual, hypocrealean fungus, characterized by a purplish pink clypeus, unit unicate asci with a non-amyloid ascal ring, lack of paraphyses, and pale reddish brown, ellipsoidal ascospores. N. erythroclypea is compared with some other members of the Hypocreaceae and illustrated with light micrographs.
