Abstract
A new polypore, Pyrofomes castanopsidis, is described from southern China. It differs from other species in the genus by having distinctly resupinate to occasionally effused-reflexed basidiocarps, with orange-brown to cinnamon-buff pore surface, yellowish brown to reddish brown tubes, presence of cystidioles, and by growth exclusively on Castanopsis. The differences between the new species and similar species are discussed, and a key to the accepted species of Pyrofomes is provided.
