Abstract
Epiphytic and epixylic moss species were collected in pristine rain forests and young secondary forests in the north-eastern part of French Guiana. A total of 44 species were identified. The pristine and young forests differed in moss species richness and composition. Pristine forests were more species-rich, almost half of all identified species were found only in pristine forests. The moss list of the region was supplemented with 28 species, among them two species new for French Guiana – Taxithelium pirrense B.H.Allen and Papillidiopsis elegans (H.Rob.) B.H.Allen.
