Meteorological Calendar 2015

For 2015, the 33rd Meteorological Calendar (since 1983) is once again available as the European Meteorological Calendar 2015. One spectacular photograph of a meteorological phenomenon, shot by a professional is featured for every month of 2015, the explanation of the monthly photo is given on the back side of each photo sheet (in English and German).
The calendar is available as a king-size (29 x 41.5 cm) wall calendar and as a decorative desktop calender (16x16cm) with a mount from which postcards are detachable along a perforation for mailing (with a short explanation of what is featured on the postcard).
The back of the photos of the wall calendar features contributions (explanation of approaches, and methods) on a focal topic unrelated to the monthly images.

The focal topic of the 2015 calendar is palaeoclimatology. Palaeoclimatological research is interdisciplinary and aims at reconstructing the climatic conditions of the past. Without detailed knowledge of the Earth’s climatic history, forecasting future climate is impossible. Decent temperature data, for example, are only available for the last, approximately 200 years. This calendar therefore presents the various proxies of past climates and the methods used for reconstructing them (English and German).
Stefan Brönnimann (University of Berne, Switzerland) has coordinated this year's focal contributions on palaeoclimatology from the international author group of this calendar.
The calendars are published on behalf of the German Meteorological Society (DMG).

Der Europäische Meteorologische Kalender 2015 zum Thema "Klimarekonstruktion/Paläoklima" entstand wie bisher im Auftrag der Deutschen Meteorologischen Gesellschaft. Er enthält 13 Farbtafeln, welche die Vielfalt meteorologischer Erscheinungen der Atmosphäre darstellen: Schnee und Eis, Gewitter-, Föhn- und auch Schönwetterwolken sowie Hochnebel.
Alle Bilder werden fachlich und allgemein verständlich erklärt. Auf den Rückseiten sind Texte, Bilder, Diagramme und Erläuterungen zum Thema "Klimarekonstruktion/Paläoklima". Der Kalender gibt einen Einblick in die Vielfalt meteorologischer Arbeit, die nur international bewältigt werden kann. Deshalb wurde Wert darauf gelegt, dass die hier dargestellte meteorologische Information zahlreiche internationale Aspekte hat. Wie mit den vorherigen Kalendern möchte der nunmehr 33. wieder Freude am Betrachten, Erkennen und Verstehen atmosphärischer Erscheinungen vermitteln und das Verständnis für meteorologische Wissenschaft fördern.

Er enthält 12 farbige Postkarten, welche die Vielfalt meteorologischer Erscheinungen der Atmosphäre darstellen: Schnee und Eis, Gewitter-, Föhn- und auch Schönwetterwolken sowie Hochnebel.
Motiv und Ort werden kurz bezeichnet. Alle Postkarten können durch eine Perforation vom Kalendarium abgetrennt werden. Der Postkartenkalender besitzt eine Wandaufhängung und einen Aufsteller und kann daher auch dekorativ positioniert werden.
