Meteorological Wall and Postcard Calendars 2019

The theme of the 2019 Meteorological Calendar, with spectacular photos of meteorological phenomena, is "Urban climate". While the front sides feature spectacular images of unique weather phenomena above the monthly calendar charts, the reverse sides provide easily understandable explantations of the presented weather conditions. In addition, the reverse sides also include, and this is what makes this calendar so special, concise, self-contained specialist articles in words and pictures, which in the 2019 calendar focus on urban climate. Everything on the reverse sides is presented both in English and German language.

The reverse sides of the monthly sheets of this calendar focus on various methods to study urban climate. Further topics covered there in detail are so called urban heat islands and air pollution, just as contribution on wind condition in the cities, the role of urban greenery and urban water bodies and the importance of rainwater management in towns and cities.

Atmospheric processes can be depicted and viewed both from an emotional and a rational angle, using mathematics and scientific methods to explain them and describe them in quantitatively. Three examples of artist René Sauerbrei show how both aspects may be combined.
