Notice to authors

The European Journal of Mineralogy publishes original papers, review articles and letters dealing with the mineralogical sciences s.l. These include primarily mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, crystallography and ore deposits, as well as environmental, applied and technical mineralogy. Nevertheless, papers in any related field, including cultural heritage, will be considered.

Manuscripts may be submitted in English, French, German or Italian. However, authors are reminded that English is the preferred language of scientific communication in an international journal. Although the European Journal of Mineralogy employs an English-language style editor and offers editorial help, authors are urged to have their manuscripts read, before submission, by a colleague whose native tongue is English in order to expedite the review process.

Submission

Beginning with 2012 all EJM manuscripts must be submitted through the EJM Manuscript Management System (MMS) to be accessed via the EJM journal website: www.schweizerbart.de/journals/ejm ->submit manuscripts online. First-time authors should first register as author and make sure to actively check the “register as author” box at the very bottom of the registration form. User names and passwords are accepted in lowercase letters only. After registration as author you immediately are free to submit your manuscript online. Please store all manuscript data in one zip- or rar-file not exceeding 20 MB and upload this zip file. During the submission process please choose the relevant chief editor or special issue section to properly submit your results to the chief editor or special issue of your choice.

Manuscripts should be prepared in the following way: Title – running title- Name (s) of author (s) and address (es) of institution (s) – Text statistics – Abstract and Key-words (in English) – Text – References list – Tables – Figures – Table captions and Figure captions.

Please upload your submission files as one single zip- or rar-file not exceeding 20 MB.

Open Access

Authors may have their articles made freely available online against charges (Optional Open Access, OOA).
To publish a paper under the Schweizerbart Optional Open Access model (OOA), the following guidelines apply:

Authors must inform the Editor prior to or with the submission of the final, corrected manuscript at the latest, that they choose Optional Open Access for their paper.

The OOA-charge for a paper of up to and including six printed pages is 995,-- Euro. Additional pages will be charged at 166,-- EUR each.

No further page charges for black and white pages (color pages still carry the usual page charges). Authors receive an invoice for applicable OOA-charges for their paper, indicating its DOI for linking to, citing and downloading. No separate PDF's will be made available by the publisher.

Paper reprints are available at cost price only.

Upon receipt of payment of the OOA-charges, access restrictions to the online version of the paper are lifted.
