Abstract
Well preserved spores in a garnet-bearing mica schist of the Spessart Crystalline Complex (Northwest Bavaria) are identified as form groups of primitive land plants (Psilophytinae). The assemblage is indicative of a middle to upper Silurian age (± Ludlow). This corrects earlier lithostratigraphic correlation with older (»Cambro-Ordovician to Precambrian«) rocks.
