New data on Nesophontes subfossil populations from Cuba and Isla de la Juventud (Cuba)

Abstract
Two species of extinct West Indian “island-shrews of the genus Nesophontes, N. micrus Allen, 1917 and N. major Arredondo, 1970, were collected in four localities from Cuba and in one locality from Isla de la Juventud, also belonging to Cuba. The first record of N. major on Isla de la Juventud is reported. A detailed description, tooth measurements, as well as the systematic position and illustrations of both species are given.
