Abstract
Ascidian spiculae are known as fossils, but largely ignored. A short note on these spiculae is followed by the description of the cone-shaped calcareous skeleton constructed by specimens of the recent tunicate Pyura at the Banc d’Arguin, Mauritania.
Kurzfassung
Tunicaten-Spiculae sind zwar fossil bekannt, wurden aber bisher gegenüber anderen Mikrofossilien stark vernachlässigt. Ihre Morphologie wird hier beschrieben. Die rezente Gattung Pyura von der Banc d’Arguin, Mauretanien, bildet außerdem ein kegelförmiges Kalkskelett.
