Abstract
Based on an excellent description of the skull of Placodus gigas Agassiz H.-D. Sues (1987) believes that a number of features link the Placodontia to the Diapsida. This view is wrong. The skull of the Placodontia has never passed through a diapsid stage.
Kurzfassung
Auf Grund einer ausgezeichneten Beschreibung des Schädels von Placodus gigas Agassiz glaubt H.-D. Sues (1987), daß eine Reihe seiner Merkmale für eine Verbindung der Placodontia mit den Diapsida sprechen. Diese Ansicht ist falsch. Der Schädel der Placodontia hat nie eine diapside Phase durchlaufen.
