Abstract
The family Soanellidae represents only a few species out of 14 genera of Early to Late Ordovician ostracodes of Siberia, South America and Australia. They are characterized by inequivalved or equivalved quadrilobate to nonsulcate carapaces without velar dimorphism.
Kurzfassung
Die unter- bis oberordovizische palaeocope Ostrakodenfamilie Soanellidae ist charakterisiert durch quadrilobate bis nonsulcate Vertreter, die keinen Velardimorphismus aufweisen. Die Soanellidae sind kein Synonym der zu den Binodicopa gehörenden Quadrijugatoridae. Erstmals werden dieser Familie die Gattungen Pseudoplanusella (= Torosa), Saltite (= Bernardite und Nortite) und Eopilla zugewiesen.
