Abstract

In this paper Satwalekera - a new genus of Torulaceae-is being described with S. sundara as type, collected on the legumes of Cassia sp. It is characterised by the production of simple, (branched rarely) unbranched conidiophores cutting off blastospores acropleurogenously from the vesicular sporogenous cells. The blastospores thus formed have a morphologically distinct apical fertile cell, which acts as the spore mother cell for the next spore and so on ad infinitum forming acropetal spore chain. In the chain the spores are held together through the apical fertile cells and not by the separating cells or isthmi.
