Abstract
The taxa of genus Pediastrum found in Taiwan were revised. According to morphological study, especially with the aid of SEM, twelve taxa were identified in 37 fresh isolates. An isolate of P. braunii was found to be quite different from the species and was identified as a new taxon. A new type of cell wall sculpture was observed in a variety of P. tetras. The appearance of species P. integrum in Taiwan is also of new record. In addition, two varieties of P. boryanum, three of P. duplex and three of P. simplex were identified. The morphology of these taxa was described and a key to the species was given.
