Abstract
The new genus Handkea (Basidiomycetes, Lycoperdaceae) is described. It differs from Calvatia by aseptate capillitium hyphae with slit-like pits; the endoperidium is not dextrinoid in all examined species. New combinations are H. excipuliformis, H. fumosa, H. hesperia, H. lloydii, H. lycoperdoides, H. subcretacea, H. utriformis (type), H. utriformis var. gruberi and H. utriformis var. hungarica; a new species is H. canadensis. A key to the 8 species and 2 varieties is provided. Calvatia rosacea is described as a new species from Ecuador. - Calvatia pachyderma is recorded from France (Nice) and Nepal.
