Abstract

The hepatic flora of the Solomon Islands is still poorly known. Guadalcanal with 87 hepatic species is the best known of the seven main island groups. After the present study, San Cristobal is the second best known area with its 52 species. In this paper 24 species are reported as new for the Solomon Islands. Additionally, Heteroscyphus mamillatus Piippo is described as new for science; and Cylindrocolea tagawae (Kitag.) Schust., Jackiella angustifolia Herz, and Plagiochila bantamensis (Reinw. et al.) Dum. are reported as new for Western Melanesia.
