Abstract

The genus Sigridea is monographed. Five species are recognised of which four are transferred from Schismatomma and one from Chiodecton, namely, Sigridea californica (Tuck.) Tehler, Sigridea chloroleuca (Müll. Arg.) Tehler, Sigridea glaucomoides (Nyl.) Tehler, Sigridea leptothallina (Malme) Tehler. The material of Sigridea albella (Müll. Arg.) Tehler is insufficient and this taxon is tentatively placed in Sigridea and is not included in the cladistic study. The species of Sigridea are distributed in subtropical, Mediterranean type of climates. Key, descriptions and distribution maps are supplied. A phylogeny based on cladistic parsimony methods using morphological data is proposed and discussed. Phytogeography is discussed.
