Abstract
Species of Exobasidiales (Basidiomycota) have not yet been reported for Panama at all. By the present publication, eight species of this group are presented for this country for the first time, together with new morphological, host plant, and molecular data. Clinoconidium cf. bullatum and Drepanoconis larviformis (Cryptobasidiaceae) were found on the same tree of Nectandra cuspidata (Lauraceae), a new host species for both fungi. Sequence data of LSU rDNA of D. larviformis confirm its placement among species of the Cryptobasidiaceae. Exobasidium pernettyae, E. poasanum on the host species Satyria warszewiczii which is identified here for the first time, Exobasidium sphyrospermi, and E. talamancense (Exobasidiaceae), are only known from Costa Rica up to now. Graphiola thaxteri is only known from the type collection on Sabal megacarpa from Florida, USA, and is reported for Panama on a new host species, Sabal mauritiiformis. Kordyana tradescantiae (Brachybasidiaceae) is reported for the first time for Panama.
