Abstract
Tetrapyrgos, with about 24 species, is a saprotrophic genus. In the present study, we introduce Tetrapyrgos tomentella sp. nov. and Tetrapyrgos subcinerea as a new record from fallen leaves and branches of deciduous trees in China, respectively. Tetrapyrgos tomentella is characterized by a pure white pileus, a tomentose black stipe, tetrahedral spores, and diverticulate cheilocystidia and pileipellis elements. It resembles T. nigripes, but can be differentiated by crowed lamellae and variability of the abundance of caulocystidia. Distinctive macro and micro-morphological characteristics, and a phylogenetic analysis based on ITS sequences, support their taxonomic identity. Morphological descriptions, illustrations, colour photographs and phylogenetic analysis results of the novel species, are provided. Line drawings and taxonomic discussions are provided. In addition, a key to the known species of Tetrapyrgos from China is provided.
