Abstract
Your correspondent has raised some interesting points which may be discussed with the constructive objectives firstly of clarification, and secondly of suggesting areas in which to extend the line of research. Our principal disagreement can be found in the premises contained in the last sentences of the first and second paragraphs. The hypothesis is not that the concavities on slopes are necessarily areas of accumulation; though it can be shown that a number of concave slope elements have soil deposition at their surfaces. Young misinterprets the results if he wishes to extrapolate the analysis for these surface soils to a more general theory of slope evolution.
