Abstract

The Commission on “Field Experiments in Geomorphology” of the International Geographical Union was created at the twenty-third International Geographical Congress in Moscow in 1976. The objectives of the Commission are the following 1. To stimulate the study of rates and effects of geomorphological processes by the use and development of field instrumentation for monitoring at field stations in different environments. The studies should preferably be on catchment (watershed) scale and consider the role of anthropogenic processes. 2. To coordinate experiments carried out with the aim of comparing current or new methods for measurement and analysis of geomorphologic processes. 3. To publish results of field experiments and to arrange symposia for exchange of experiences.
