Abstract
A total of 18 collections of benthic marine algae, consisting of red, brown, and green algae, from Cape Mendocino, Humboldt County, northern California, made in August 1882 by Cyrus S.Pringle and now located in the Pringle Herbarium (VT), has been studied. The names of these algae, originally identified by Farlow and Bornet, are re-determined according to current taxonomy and nomenclature. This collection is of historical interest because of the remoteness and its relatively early date.
