Abstract
Neckera baetica is described as a new species from southern Spain, a taxon morphologically related to the Macaronesian N. intermedia Brid. The main distinctive characters that separate both species are discussed. A comparison of ITS sequences of both taxa and other species of Neckera from the Iberian Peninsula and Macaronesia is made and a key to related species from the Iberian Peninsula and Macaronesia provided.
