As of January 1, 2007, beginning with Volume 168, Archiv für Hydrobiologie has been renamed to "Fundamental and Applied Limnology (new ISSN: 1863-9135)", retaining the former title as subtitle. At the same time, cover design was modernized and the page format is now the common sub A4 (27.4x21cm, 8"x11.7") format, showing a superior layout. The agenda has remained the same: the publication of high impact, peer reviewed research papers in freshwater science.
ScopeFundamental and Applied Limnology is an international journal for freshwater research in the widest sense, including problems of marine biology and brackish water research. Papers dealing with ecological topics are especially welcome in association with experimental or physiological studies. All papers published in this journal are subject to peer review.
Archiv für Hydrobiologie, now Fundamental and Applied Limnology has been published continuously since 1906.
